The Pasadena Arts Council annually honors individuals and organizations for exceptional achievement in their fields, and for significant contributions to the visual, performing and literary arts. In 2008, the Gold Crown Awards recognized contributions which also reflected a commitment to sustainability.
2008 Honorees:
David R. Brown (top), Executive Director of Descanso Gardens, for charting the Gardens’ course in becoming a model of sustainability in landscape design and collections management
Artists and environmentalists Susanna Dadd and James Griffith (left), for their unique approach to recycled materials in creating an amphitheatre in their garden, the “Folly Bowl;”
The Mother’s Club Family Learning Center (below left), modeling environmental responsibility for other organizations, the families they serve, and the community as a whole.
